Fun Outdoors

I've got more house posts underway, but no time to pull it together for a few days,  In the meanwhile, I came across this old issue of National Sportsman the other day, and the cover made me smile--it shows two boys, one rough & tumble, with a freshly caught eel, the other prissily dressed, recoiling in horror.   It reminded me of childhood fishing expeditions with my cousin.  Go ahead, guess which boy I was....

My husband's best childhood friend loved the great outdoors for fishing and hunting. My husband liked basketball and baseball and hated the camping end of things. When he went out to his friend's family cabin, he'd take the worm off the hook and sit back and snooze. Didn't want the fish to interrupt good zzzzzzs.

once a friend and i rowed around Sabbathday lake and came across a deserted (we thought) boathouse. in it was a boat with something hanging over the side. we pulled it up and hanging from it were what seemed like a hundred eels. we were a mile away before they hit the water.
